Day 3 Deuteronomy 11-13
WHERE
ARE YOU WALKING? Every place on which the sole of your foot treads shall be yours – Deut. 11:24
Our steps carry us to the mount of victory or the valley of defeat. The benefits of God are always before us, but we sometimes choose detours that lead to ruins which take time to repair. Make your plan, and let God lead. He may change your plans, but your heart is prepared. A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps (Prov. 16:9).
God’s steps lead us to victory. That’s not to say there won’t be a fight. There can be no victory without war. As long as God picks the battles we are safe. The land of Canaan was promised to Israel, but they had to take it. They were required to walk every acre. They had to drive out the enemy. There inheritance became theirs as they claimed it – mountains, valleys, pastures and plains had to be trod. They could choose not to walk it (and they did), and wherever they stopped the enemy staked a claim.
The Christian life is like that. Jesus said, “It is finished.” His finish is our beginning. The victory was declared on the Cross. We fight from His victory. He opened the way. We walk in it. As long as we walk in His way we walk in His victory. When we stop or step out on our own the enemy sakes a claim. Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh (Gal. 5:16).
Are your steps planned or random? God said, Lay up these words of mine in your heart…bind them…teach them …write them… (vs. 18-19). That’s the plan. That’s not chance. When this plan is followed every place on which the sole of your foot treads shall be yours. Let the enemy stake no claim.
Watch out for random steps.
